Massart Photography captures a wedding in Newport, Rhode Island
Wedding, family and newborn photographers serving Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut
Jessica and Derek were referred to us by Jessica’s cousin, Amanda. We photographed Amanda and John’s wedding back in June of 2016 at the Five Bridge Inn and we absolutely adore them! (You might remember them because of their notorious llama photo seen below ?) Jessica and Derek didn’t even meet with us for a consultation, they just knew I guess?! We are always honored by every. single. couple who considers us to photograph their big day, never mind when they trust us right off the bat and lock in their date!
As we got closer to the wedding, we finally got to sit down with Jessica and Derek and were thrilled to find out more about them and their laid back personalities. We were also super excited when we found out that their venue was the Atlantic Resort, meaning they were the second wedding we would capture there in under a month! We just love the setup, the vibe of the venue, and of course Elaine, the wedding coordinator; she is simply AMAZING! She is always very hands-on with the couple and everyone seems to fall in love with her…we’d say she’s the fairy godmother of weddings 😉
Jessica and Derek were the second couple to ask for our advice as far as where to shoot their first look off the Atlantic Resort property. Since November in New England is quite chilly, they opted for an indoor location for their special moment. After long deliberation, we remembered how gorgeous the casements at Fort Adams were, and knew Jessica and Derek would agree! As one can imagine, wedding day timelines can be tight, so thankfully this location was super close in Newport and Jessica booked it for the first look and formal portraits of the wedding party. We did have a bit of a run in with some boy scouts campers but they were wonderful and helped accommodate us so that Jessica and Dereck would have the images they envisioned.
Derek has a super adorable son and the couple also has the cutest little guy together. After the ceremony, Derek’s son was “just so happy!” that he began to bawl his eyes out! Remind you of anything?! Remember Dave and Sam’s sweet little guy?? Yep! The second wedding in a row that the son of the groom was so overjoyed at gaining such a wonderful stepmom! The similarities of the situations was definitely a crazy coincidence! He simply couldn’t contain his emotions and let tears of joy roll down his face. Can you stand the cuteness??
After that, the couple and their guests danced the night away under those beautiful twinkly lights that the Atlantic Resort has to offer. The day went seamlessly and we hope it was everything Jessica and Derek wanted, and more! Congratulations to the adorable couple and their kids! We wish nothing but happiness for the four of you! 🙂
