Atlantic Resort Newport Wedding by Massart Photography, a Rhode Island studio focusing on wedding, maternity, newborn, and family portraiture.
On New Year’s Eve 2021, I had the incredible honor of capturing Taylor and Ed’s Atlantic Resort wedding in Newport, and let me tell you, it’s not lost on me that there were wedding photographers LINING up to photograph this wedding. They chose ME and that leaves me more humbled than I can possibly put into words.
It’s not just that EVERYONE knows Taylor and Ed, it’s about a lot more than that. I have followed and been an acquaintance of Ed’s for a long time now, I’m talking MySpace days (I’m really aging myself here, yikes) and just like anyone who has ever met him, I always had nothing but utter respect for him, for what he does for the community, and just his overall kindness. Ed is the first groom who has ever carried my camera bag. Ed is the guy who is walking down the aisle, enjoying one of the most important moments of his life yet makes it a point to make everyone he walks by feel special in some way, with a handshake, a wink, or an embrace. You would think it would be hard for a match to live up to just how loved he is but you’d be wrong. Taylor isn’t just drop-dead gorgeous… she is genuine, sweet, and incredibly kind. She is SO loved by Ed’s circle and it’s no surprise. I honestly can’t think of a better match than these two.
I haven’t announced it officially so here you go: this is my last official season as a wedding photographer. Wow, that’s heavy to say! I’ll still take a couple of them per year because I can’t let them go fully, I love them too much for that but mainly, I’ll be focusing on the babies and families. I tell you this because when I ended my teaching career to go into photography full time, my friends threw me a surprise retirement party at no place other than Vanity, one of Ed’s restaurants. What a journey it’s been! It’s TRULY incredible to me that I would end it by now photographing Ed’s wedding. My heart is so full right now.
This wedding was one for the books, as you’ll see in their images. Again, I’m so honored I got to be a part of it.
