Massart Photography captures a romantic wedding on Goat Island in Newport, RI
Wedding, newborn and family photographers serving Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut
Alexis and Alex were referred to us by a friend of Alexis’ that is a client of ours. We were so bummed when we saw their wedding date since it was a day that we (Audrey and Seth) were already booked for another wedding. I, Audrey, got to know Alexis a bit better through a session prior to the wedding and I swear I could have chatted with her all day, I just adored her and was so bummed not to capture their wedding. However, we knew Nick, (A Massart Photography primary shooter) would be perfect for the job! We all met to chat with Alexis and Alex about their vision for their special day and once we heard their plans, we knew Nick was in for a good time! They are a super chill couple who happen to love EDM (electronic dance music) so let’s just say a glow stick table was in the plans and we all know what that means…PARTY TIME!
Anyway, let’s back up a little bit to their engagement session in May of 2017 at Linden Place in Bristol. It wasn’t the sunniest or warmest day on record here in RI…let’s just say that! So it was a tough day for an engagement session (although you can’t tell by the photos…great job Nick!), but a great experience for Nick to get to know Alexis and Alex and vice versa. Having an engagement session always makes the wedding day go so much more smoothly. By that point, everyone knows each other very well and things fall right into place.
We personally think that Nick and his second shooter Kayla freaking killed it but then again, we knew that would be the case! Trusting someone else to represent your brand, especially in such a personal and creative field, is incredibly difficult. Seth might even say I’m a bit of a control freak….meeeeee??? 🤓 Sorry not sorry, we only expect the best out of ourselves!
Aside from the fact that the images rocked, we also know that Nick’s personality deserved another 5 stars. The DAY AFTER the wedding, Alexis took the time to write the most touching email about hers and Alex’s experience with Nick. Thank you for doing that Alexis! All of the things she said are all of the areas that we pride ourselves on as a business. “He was a calming presence” were her words. That’s exactly what we try to do so we are thrilled to have Nick, who is such a well blended asset of our business. Ok that’s enough cheerleading for Nick, I seem to repeat myself every time he shoots for us! We love you dude!
Anywho, Alex and Alexis got married on Goat Island in Newport at the new Gurney’s Hotel (formerly the Hyatt). They did a first look at the lighthouse on Goat Island with the iconic Newport Bridge in the background. After that, they got married on the lawn and their reception followed in the ballroom…which did not disappoint! As you can tell from the images, a good time was had by all!
Congratulations Alexis and Alex! Wishing you lots of love and happiness as husband and wife!
